Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, to travel anywhere outside of the United States or U.S. territories you need a passport. This includes Canada and Mexico. The one current exception is cruises that depart and return from a U.S. port of call. For these cruises, you can still use a certified copy of your birth certificate along with your driver’s id. However, Boomerang Escapes strongly encourages the use of passports for cruises. For more information on obtaining a passport, please visit our Resources page.

Some countries, such as Australia and New Zealand do require U.S. citizens to obtain a tourist visa. No worries, as we take care of making sure you are aware any visas you may need for the countries we service. For additional information on visa requirements, please visit our Resources page.

We like to say “two movies, two meals and a nap”. Actual flight time will vary depending on your point of departure. If we are speaking hours, it is roughly 13-14 hours from Los Angeles to Sydney. However, we can make suggestions such as a stopover in Hawaii or the Cook Islands to break the trip up and add an extra element to your overall vacation.

The farther ahead you start planning your trip, the better. Trips booked early typically have better pricing and availability. We recommend a lead time of 6-9 months for overseas travel, especially when planning to travel during peak season. For special occasion such as a destination wedding or large groups we suggest beginning a year out. For trips within the US and Caribbean, we can work with shorter time frames.

Boomerang Escapes highly recommends the purchase of travel insurance, whether it be a separate policy or the insurance the tour company provides. Our suggestion is to purchase the policy that allows cancel for any reason (CFAR). Purchasing travel insurance protects your travel investment, health, belongings and vacation memories before and during your vacation. Purchasing travel insurance is what we refer to as “peace of mind money.” And as the saying goes, “better safe than sorry.” Please be aware that you will be required to sign a form if you choose to decline insurance protection.

Boomerang Escapes recommends you arrive a minimum of 1 ½ hours prior to your flight’s departure. For international flights we recommend arriving 3 hours prior to your departure time. You may check-in online with most airlines 24 hours prior to your departure. We strongly recommend reconfirming your flight schedule 24 hours in advance, in case of any last minute changes or delays.

Every trip is custom tailored to suite your travel desires and thus every vacation will vary in pricing depending on length of stay, choice of accommodations, desired destination or destinations and whether you choose something that is pre-designed, such as one of our many tours.
