The Carnival Liberty-A Personal Review
The Carnival Liberty-A Personal Reveiw
I just had the pleasure of spending the last week with my oldest daughter aboard this ship. Given all the negative publicity over the past year, the Carnival Liberty, by far supreceded my expectations of cruising and of the Carnival brand. Usually an all-inclusive gal, I was excited when given the opportunity sail.
Given all the changes in the cruise industry, and given I hadn't sailed in 20+ years, I felt as if I was experiencing this just like my daughter, as a first time cruiser. We were so pleased with our trip that even the cancellation of a port call into Isla Roatan, due to high winds and choppy waters, did not dampen our spirits.
Our sailing was a 7-day Western Caribbean with scheduled portings at Cozumel, Belize, Isla Roatan and Costa Maya. The one wave in our smooth sailing was Mother Nature. The only negative I can say about this whole cruise expereince was a bit of rain in Cozumel and some rough seas preventing a port call at Isla Roatan. Not so rough to cause illness though. The ship expereince and the other ports were amazing.
Our break down...
Service-I have never met a friendly, funnier, more entertaining staff than that aboard the Carnival Liberty. Ida, our cabin steward, alone made our day with his good mornings. From the bottom rung up, this crew knew how to please.
Food-Ok a 5lb weight gain over the week should tell you how great tasting this food was. The variety of restaurants was perfect. We didn't even get to sample all the places aboard. My time dining is great option for flexibility for formal dining room. Allowing you to eat anywher between 5:45pm and 9pm. And of course, the Lido deck always had a buffet option for those wishing to remain casual. The favorite spot and probably the culprit for the weight gain, the 24-hr pizza bar convienently loacted a few decks above the late night entertainment.
Entertainment-No time to be board on this cruise. From the morning through the night there was something to suite you. Some of our favorites, music and games on the Lido deck, Bingo, the main shows and the Punchliner Comedy Club.
Excursions-Of course part of the fun of taking a cruise is getting to experience more than one location. Highly encourage booking a shore excursion. This trip we enjoyed paddle boarding, snorkeling, kayaking and a culture experiecne called Salsa and Salsa. Again, the guides and staff at each port where amazing and friendly. Excursions can be prebooked or booked onboard at the shore excursion desk. And no worries, if something happens like the missed port they just credited to your sail and sign account.
We hated for the sail to come to an end and would have easily turned aroung and walked on board for another. A great vacation option! Fun for all!
