Major League Opening Series Sydney Australia
Baseball Goes Down Under
Did you know that the Opening Series for Major League Baseball took place on the other end of the world? That's right the first games of the 2014 season took place Down Under. "Play Ball", for the first time, was shouted from the hallowed grounds of the Sydney Cricket Grounds which had been converted into the beautiful baseball field you see to the right.
This year's season officially started when the Arizona Diamond Backs took the field and threw the first pitch to the Los Angeles Dodgers. These two teams do not have a great fondness for one another, but that did not seem to be shared by the fans that attended with Down Under Answers. The 400 travelers that booked packages were seen getting on quite well wearing their jerseys and sharing a beer at many of the local watering holes. (And insider knowlegdge tells me that Arizona had more fans representing)
The LA Dodgers went 2 for 2 taking the opening series from Diamond Backs.
Sydney is second to none in putting on special events. You can expect that you will see more baseball to find its way Down Under especially since the Aussie have taken a particular liking to it. The games for the event were completely sold out. Now wouldn't you like to be in the stands next time?
