Where's the Beach?
Summer time! Vacation time! Beach time! The tell tale signs are there. There are highschool graduations, year-end programs and exams. Yes, another school year is coming to a close and students and their families are ready for summer vacation. And where is he hot spot destination for most? The beach, of course!
For us in the mid-south, the first beaches that come to mind belong to Florida's panhandle and Alabama's Gulf Shores. The white sands of Florida's panhandle and Alabama's Gulf Shores have been family favorites for generations. And well they should be. As a favorite diving hotspot, these destinationts also offer nightlife and great restaurants. Plus, eat the fresh fish you caught from a fishing charter. Florida and the Alabama coast appeal to all activity levls from shopping, museums and even visiting the wildlife. Particular hot spot locations are Destin, Fort Walton, Panama City and Orange Beach.
Want to venture beyond the borders of the US? Then the Caribbean is calling your name. Whether East, West, or South you will find an island culture or coastline city that will suite your beach desires. The Caribbean is known for its crystal blue turquoise waters and endless white sand beaches. Each location is unique, with a feel and vibe all its own. Again, everything you want to do can be found in the Caribbean, whether you're the "lounge in the chair beach bum" or the "adventurous thrill seeker", you will find it here. Try a massage in the morning followed by a zip-line through the forest in the afternoon. Or spend a day afloat a catamaran. Why not take a horseback ride along the beach? With so much to choose from, any traveler will find their perfect vacation fit. And the cuisine is simply superb. Favorite all-inclusive hot spots are Jamaica, St. Lucia (known as the Hawaii of the Caribbean), Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and The Mayan Riviera. These all-inclusive resorts offer native and American cuisines ranging from your good old fashioned hamburger to a surf and turf with hibiscus sauce. And who can pass up Caribbean Jerk chicken?
If you want to see more than just one beach on your vaction, then you will want to try a cruise. With ports in Texas, Louisana, and Florida, to name a few, you can set sail and visit as many as six ports during your vacation. The best part is that, while each port of call is unique, in its own way, your ship itself is a floating resort. With so many things to do on board you may not want to get off the boat.
Today's cruises offer a variety of entertainment for all ages. They have kid programs, pools, waterslides, shopping, spas, fitness, bowling, rock climbing, contests, shows and moives under the stars. And, of course all the food you can eat. When you dock, stay on board, stroll through the town, pull up a chiar on the beach or join in on an adventurous excursion. The choice is yours. No matter how you choose to sail, it will be a vacation to remember.
The best part about finidng your beach is, it doesn't have to be for summer A beach vacation is anytime; summer break, fall break, holidays or spring break. Whenever you take your vacation, there is a beach waiting for you!
